Space Animations...3...2...1....BLAST OFF!

Our Space Animations are finally almost finished. I am so proud of everyone in P6/7 who worked extremely hard in the 'making' process of the animations. They took lots of patience and time...but we all got there. Now we all have some fantastic DVDs made by our-super-selves!!
We will be celebrating our achievements on Wednesday morning in school when we will evaluate all of the animations.

For now let me remind you of the Space Animation process with 'The Making of....' video clip...

As you can see form this clip your collaborative learning, cooperation and 'quality discussion' skills are FANTASTIC P6/7...give yourselves a BIG CROCODILE CLAP! Enjoy!

Scottish Week- Pittin the Mither Tongue on the Wab!

Ach weel we are gonnae hiv a braw auld time learnin' aboot Scots the morn an' all week!!

Scots week kicks of tomorrow at school and I am sure we all have lots of ideas/games/songs/facts about Scotland or that we consider Scottish that we can yarn and yap aboot in class!!

We are going to be looking at the geography of Scotland- dividing up into 'Peedie Pals' to research and create leaflets/posters for given areas of Scotland. At the end of the week we will present our areas to the class and the best pair who sell us their Scottish destination like real tourist boards will win a fantastic Scots hamper!

We will also be looking at a variety of Scottish food and drinks products and using our knowledge of line and perspective to draw these. Of course Scots week wouldn't be very Scottish without a wee keek at Robert Burns and some other Scottish poets literary works. In addition to this we will be taking a modern look at Scotland through our own version of comic strips based on 'The Broons'.

I am very much looking forward to it and hopefully some of P6/7 can update the blog daily in class with how we are getting on with our variety of Scottish projects! Watch this space...

The Blitz Programme

I have just watched the blitz programme that Jason posted about it was very interesting. It also let you here Neville Chamberlain speech. it was sad about the girl that was at the theater for her wedding anniversary and it got bombed

the next day 600 people died and more than 600 injured

one girl fainted when she heard war was declared and then she died in the blitz

hundreds of people ran away to the countryside to get away but some people was not allowed to go because they had to work

Anderson shelters was so cold

people seeped in underground train platform because they did not get things to make Anderson shelter.

Hitler decided to invade Coventry on the  14th of November 1940

some people did not like the way BBC was doing the newspaper and  the radio so they listened to the German radio and one day the German solider a announced Germany was going to invade London so they all switched off the radio and grabbed all there belonging and ran to the Anderson shelters .

22nd of December Manchester got there turn of the blitz

on  boxing day 1940 they said the worst of the blitz is over! But on the 29th  London  got a terrifying attack some men got sent to save the st Margret cathedral.

Hitler wanted to bomb st Paul's because he thought it would break the spirit

but st Paul's was saved

people in Britain were feed up with the slogan Britain can take it
they wanted it to be Britain could give it out

people said they wanted to bomb Berlin the same that they did to London

hope you like my facts i had to keep pausing the TV so i could type it

Neville Chamberlain's Speech

Hello, I found Neville Chamberlain's FULL SPEECH!!! Here it is...

I am speaking to you from the Cabinet Room at 10 Downing Street.

This morning the British Ambassador in Berlin handed the German Government a final note stating that, unless we hear from them by 11 o'clock that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland, a state of war would exist between us. I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently this country is at war with Germany.

You can imagine what a bitter blow it is to me that all my long struggle to win peace has failed. Yet I cannot believe that there is anything more or anything different that I could have done and that would have been more successful.
Up to the very last it would have been quite possible to have arranged a peaceful and honourable settlement between Germany and Poland, but Hitler would not have it. He had evidently made up his mind to attack Poland, whatever happened, and although he now says he put forward reasonable proposals which were rejected by the Poles, that is not a true statement.

The proposals were never shown to the Poles, nor to us, and though they were announced in a German broadcast on Thursday night, Hitler did not wait to hear comments on them but ordered his troops to cross the Polish frontier the next morning.

His action shows convincingly that there is no chance of expecting that this man will ever give up his practice of using force to gain his will. He can only be stopped by force.

We and France are today, in fulfilment of our obligations, going to the aid of Poland, who is so bravely resisting this wicked and unprovoked attack upon her people. We have a clear conscience - we have done all that any country could do to establish peace.

The situation in which no word given by Germany's ruler could be trusted, and no people or country could feel itself safe, has become intolerable. And now that we have resolved to finish it I know that you will play your part with calmness and courage.

At such a moment as this the assurances of support which we have received from the empire are a source of profound encouragement to us.

When I have finished speaking, certain detailed announcements will be made on behalf of the government. Give these your closest attention. The government have made plans under which it will be possible to carry on work of the nation in the days of stress and strain that may be ahead...

Now may God bless you all. May He defend the right. For it is evil things that we shall be fighting against - brute force, bad faith, injustice, oppression and persecution - and against them I am certain that right will prevail.

Neat, eh! jack

Fantastic First Week Back!

P6/7 have had a very productive week back at school. We have started our new topic, World War Two & the Home Front, chosen our new Literacy Circle novels, reflected on our achievements in term 2, thought about our targets for the new term ahead and met our new buddies from P1/2! Yep, term 3 is going to be another busy and exciting term for us all!

This term in P.E. we are be going to getting some specialist handball sessions before the Handball Festival in February.
We are finishing off our 'Keeping Myself Safe' topic in Health and Well Being- well done to you all who have contributed to some fantastic (and very grown up!) discussions during this programme of work. I look forward to your responsible attitudes towards our next Health topic- Alcohol Education.
In Literacy we are going to be looking at how we can use VCOP to improve our creative & formal writing and also filling in  WW2 diaries every week!
We are all working extremely hard in maths- all moving up a level and textbook. We are currently finishing off Division and moving onto Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.

I hope you are looking forward to the challenges and fun which lay ahead in term 3- keep up the hard work P6/7!
